The average American throws away 82 pounds of textile waste each year and the fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world.

Fashion By Texas partners with labels that strive to be more socially responsible and make a less negative footprint on the world around us. We focus on brands that are thoughtful about material choices, that adhere to high quality working conditions and that provide transparency about their supply chain process.

We love major label brands and we never think that “shopping small” is the only way to go. But we also believe that when the consumer has an amazing experience meeting with a local or regional designer and getting to know the person making their clothes, that the likelihood of those pieces being deemed “disposable” is much lower. We love designers and labels that make clothing built to last and that people want to pass on to their kids.

We’re changing the conversation about what it means to be a Runway Model.

We love professional models that are size 2 and 5’11”. You’ll see them on our runways. What you’ll also see are models of all shapes, sizes, ages, races, genders and ability levels.

Everyone buys clothes. Fashion is for everyone. Runway models should reflect that too.

Every Fashion By Houston event will have deep social impact. We partner with and/or feature nonprofit organizations in every event we do. A portion of ticket proceeds or sales will always go to a nonprofit partner. We encourage our participants to do the same.

We make all Fashion By Texas events accessible to as many people as we can. Runway designers and participants pay a fraction of what it costs to show at the major fashion weeks but they get a level of production equal to or better. Those big fashion weeks? Yeah, you have to know someone to get a seat. Not with Fashion By Texas. Want to come? Buy a ticket. It’s that easy. Can’t afford a ticket? Apply to volunteer and we’ll do our best to get you an opportunity.
